Strong condemnation expressed over the desecration of the Quran

Call for convening OIC meeting to discuss the issue with Sweden

Strong condemnation expressed over the desecration of the Quran

PESHAWAR:
A protest rally against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden was organized by the Tanzeem-e-Tajiraan Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Peshawar Chamber of Commerce & Industries, led by Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister for Labour, Malik Mehr Elahi.

The participants marched from Milad Chowk to Chowk Yadgaar, holding protest banners condemning the desecration of the Holy Quran. They expressed outrage against anti-Islamic elements and criticized the incident, which took place in Sweden under the pretext of freedom of expression. Demonstrators, in a respectful and unique display, formed a long line where they kissed the Quran, demonstrating their devotion and love for it.

Addressing the rally, Special Assistant Malik Mehr Elahi stated that this incident in Sweden has deeply hurt the sentiments of billions of Muslims. He denounced the desecration of books, holy places, and religious leaders, labelling such acts as blatant terrorism disguised as freedom of expression. He called on the OIC and UN to take concrete measures to prevent such incidents. Elahi emphasized that Muslims advocate for peace and hold respect for all religions, and the desecration of a holy book in a developed country like Sweden, under the guise of freedom of expression, is utterly senseless.

During the event, members of the business community demanded that the government convene a meeting at the OIC and United Nations levels to pass a law categorizing blasphemous activities as religious terrorism.
